Klotz has directed several documentaries profiling musicians, such as sitar player Pandit Ravi Shankar, pianist Brad Mehldau, and saxophonist James Carter. After directing two feature-length fiction films for the big screen (La nuit bengali and La nuit sacrée, based on the novel by Tahar Ben Jelloun), he made the film Paria, which depicted the lives of the homeless. He had already addressed this topic in 2000 in a TV movie broadcast on the Arte network: Un Ange en danger.
