Fatema, an Indian Muslim teenager living in a hilly Italian town, is in a clandestine relationship with her white Italian boyfriend. She spends her summer with her friends, sunbathing by the waters, in honeycomb reverie. When a burqa-clad Muslim teenager moves into town with her immigrant family, Fatema begins to follow the newcomer around, an attraction that catalyzes tentative questioning about her identity.
